*Advanced Mosquito Identification Workshop hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Mosquito BEACONS*
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board and Mosquito BEACONS is hosting an Advanced Mosquito Identification Workshop in Dallas, Texas at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at 17360 Coit Rd, Dallas.
The Advanced Mosquito Identification Workshop will be held on October 23-24, 2023.
This course is a one-and-a-half-day event offering a comprehensive overview of mosquito biology, mosquito-borne diseases, QGIS for mapping, operational integrated mosquito management, and common and invasive mosquito species of the Gulf South identification workshops via microscopy and genetic analysis, among other topics.
The course subjects are presented systematically as components of our integrated mosquito management program and will include classroom lectures and laboratory sessions led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension entomologists, City of New Orleans Mosquito Control staff entomologists and specialists, as well as visiting experts. Our invited speakers this year include Dan Killingsworth, Field Supervisor and Operations Manager at Environmental Security Pest Control; Dr. Lindsay Campbell, Assistant Professor at the University of Florida’s Department of Entomology and Nematology; Mike Riles, the lead medical entomologist for Beach Mosquito Control District in Panama City Beach, Florida; and Ms. Nina Dacko, mosquito control entomologist.
